Most of the heat from your gas stove never reaches your food. Over two-thirds of the heat escapes around the sides of your cooking pans, wasting your time, burning extra gas and heating up your kitchen for no reason.
Delft-based startup Effium is changing that. Their newly launched “Effium Pan”, developed by graduates of TU Delft and later incubated at the European Space Agency Business Incubator Centre Noordwijk (ESA BIC), uses patented rocket technology to double heat absorption. The result? 35% faster cooking while saving up to 50% gas, independently validated by the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and embraced by Michelin chefs and hobby cooks worldwide.
We can now sear steak faster, resulting in a juicier end result, while also using less gas. That’s a win-win in any kitchen.” –
Michelin Chef Jan van Dobben, owner of Restaurant “Amarone” in Rotterdam.
Rocket-inspired design doubles heat absorption
The secret behind the Effium Pan is its patented heat-fin technology, inspired by the thermodynamic design of rocket engines. Where traditional pans simply let hot air escape along the smooth base, Effium’s unique design captures hot air and swirls it along the base for maximum heat transfer. This doubles heat absorption and dramatically improves heat distribution across the entire pan, ensuring your food is cooked evenly.
Independent testing by TNO, one of Europe’s leading applied research institutes, confirmed the design’s effectiveness:
- 49% less gas consumption when frying
- 35% faster heating compared
The result is faster, more precise cooking with superior browning and sear quality, enhancing flavors whether roasting vegetables or crafting meals with a crispy exterior and tender, juicy inside.
Born out of frustration, driven by science
“When I first started cooking in college, I noticed how slow my food heated up and how much heat leaked out during cooking,” says Surya Prakash, CEO and co-founder of Effium. “We started Effium to solve that. And we’re proud that it’s not just an idea: it’s now proven by independent science, a granted patent, and real-world results from both home cooks and Michelin starred chefs chefs worldwide.”
Effium’s success is rooted in thermodynamic principles, building on Surya’s background in mechanical engineering from TU Delft.
Designed for kitchens worldwide
Effium participated in the European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC) program in Noordwijk and concluded the YES!Delft accelerator program.
Innovation in the pan industry has been stagnant for years. It is often a cosmetic adjustment or a new coating, we went back to basics and focused on the core of cooking: optimal heat utilization” – says Wytze de Vries, co-founder and CTO of Effium, responsible for product design.
“I’m happy that the Effium Pan is increasingly becoming the go-to pan for home cooks and Michelin chefs, not just here in the Netherlands but also in the US, Japan, UK and New Zealand. We built it to make everyday cooking faster, easier and more flavorful, and I’m excited that we can now bring that experience to even more kitchens worldwide.” added Surya Prakash, CEO and co-founder of Effium.
The Effium Pan is now available at effium.com with international shipping. The company is expanding into new markets and more models.
