In Heukelum, despite the official ban on discharging toilet waste into canals and lakes, many boat owners continue to do so, leading to significant pollution issues. Enforcement of this ban has proven difficult due to the ease with which boat owners can bypass regulations. There is a pressing need for increased awareness and proper waste disposal facilities, as highlighted by harbor masters and water board officials.
In 2022, Fluss successfully completed the YES!Delft Validation Lab. This achievement is part of the ongoing initiatives to tackle pollution caused by boat discharge in canals and lakes.
