Liion Power selected for European investment platform Invesdor

Published
The greentech startup Liion Power was selected for Invesdor, the largest European platform for impact investments in startups

Liion Power, founded by Jardo Stammeshaus, who was named ‘Most Innovative Student Entrepreneur of the Netherlands’ in 2021 during his physics studies for this idea, has been selected for Invesdor, the largest European platform for impact investments in startups, after a year of discussions. This marks an important step in Liion Power’s ambition to make smart charging technology widely available, not only for consumers but also, in the future, as AI-trained software integration for manufacturers of electronics and light electric vehicles.

The first product from Liion Power is Leo, a device that extends the lifespan of users’ electronics by charging smarter. In 2024, Liion Power raised over 250,000 euros in pre-orders with Leo and won several international innovation awards, including the CES Las Vegas Innovation Award 2025 and the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge. The selection by Invesdor now opens the door to European investors, from professional funds to private individuals, who can participate in the company’s further growth under the same conditions.

Leo, the smart USB-interconnect placed between a charger and an electronic device to reduce battery wear, is now in use in 59 countries. This allows Liion Power to collect large amounts of anonymized charging data, which helps further train the software using AI. “In a world where AI is becoming increasingly important, unique data is the key,” say the founders of Liion Power. “The more charging sessions we analyze, the smarter our technology becomes.”

With the Invesdor campaign, Liion Power aims to take the next step: making smart charging software available for integration into products from other manufacturers. The mission is that by 2040, batteries in Europe will be charged smartly by default based on data, so that devices last longer and electronic waste is significantly reduced. By listing on Invesdor, Liion Power deliberately chooses a European growth path. The platform makes it possible to bring private and professional investors from all over Europe together in one round, so that technology with potential can continue to grow within the European ecosystem.

Background Liion Power

The idea for the Battery Life Extender originated in 2020 during a graduation research project on battery degradation for the Master’s in Physics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In the following years, the concept was further developed, and Liion Power won several innovation awards. In 2021, the team won an innovation prize from the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge and received €100,000 to further develop the technology. In 2022, Liion Power won a growth trip to Silicon Valley along with the winners of the Academic Startup Competition, organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy. During this trip, the founders pitched their innovation to, among others, Marc Tarpenning, co-founder of Tesla, and the foundation was laid for the data strategy behind the smart charging software. In 2024, the company collected €250,000 in pre-orders for the first product, Leo, followed by the initial production and market launch. In the same year, founder Jardo Stammeshaus was included in the FD Top 50 Entrepreneurial Talents. In 2025, Liion Power won both the CES Las Vegas Innovation Award and the IFA Berlin Greentech Award, gaining international recognition within the electronics and sustainability sector. Leo is now used worldwide, and Liion Power is collecting valuable charging data to further develop the technology.

Liion Power has previously received attention in various Dutch and international media, including de Volkskrant, NRC, Trouw, De Telegraaf, Quote, and Humberto Tan on Radio 1.

Invesdor

Invesdor is the largest European platform for impact investments. While investing in startups has been common practice in the United States for years, a large portion of capital in Europe is still held in savings accounts spread across 27 countries, each with its own rules and languages. Invesdor simplifies cross-border investing by admitting selected European impact startups and requiring that at least 30 percent of each round is filled by professional investors. After that, anyone in Europe, from €250, can participate under the same conditions. The platform thus lowers the threshold for private investors and accelerates the growth of sustainable innovations in Europe.
