Meet the finalists of the New Energy Challenge

Published
Congratulations to the companies whose innovative ideas have been selected as the participants of the New Energy Challenge (NEC) 2025 competition. From the 25 shortlisted participants, 12 finalists have been selected and announced.

This year marks the tenth edition of the New Energy Challenge. Jointly organised by RockstartShellUnknown Campus and YES!Delft, the New Energy Challenge offers a platform for cutting-edge innovators to develop emerging technologies that promote sustainability and shape the future of the energy sector at scale.

This year, the NEC is about technologies that will contribute to the decarbonisation and defossilisation of energy operations. Innovations in areas such as renewable hydrogen and carbon removal will play a crucial role in this transformation. As the energy transition advances, we also need technologies that can replace fossil fuels with lower-carbon alternatives, such as synthetic gas.

From over 160 high-quality submissions, the 25 most innovative innovations were selected. They participated in deep-dive meetings with industry experts, and those judged to have the greatest potential will now advance to the competition finals.

The 12 finalists are can be found in the link below. They were selected based on the quality and potential of their innovative technologies and business models.
