The sensor and chip technology company Praxa Sense is setting up a new office in Rotterdam and at Noviotech Campus in Nijmegen, where it will scale ALIS®, a new generation of sensors for applications including wearables and medical technology.
Praxa Sense’s technology addresses a key challenge in wearable devices such as smartwatches: obtaining more reliable health data under varying conditions. Existing optical sensors can be disrupted by movement and provide only a limited view of a person’s health. ALIS® measures not only blood volume but also blood velocity, enabling more advanced health measurements and potentially allowing measurements at body locations where this is currently difficult.
Praxa Sense does not plan to sell end products itself. Instead, it develops and supplies technology that partners and customers can use in their own applications. The company’s sensors have been validated at laboratory scale and are now being further developed for industrial production.
