Delft-based Momo Medical has claimed the Dutch Innovation Prize 2023 for its groundbreaking BedSense App, a revolutionary innovation designed to improve patient safety through technology. The award, presented by the Amsterdam Center for Business Innovation (ACBI) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), acknowledges Momo Medical’s exceptional contribution to addressing social challenges in healthcare.
Founded in 2017, Momo Medical focuses on leveraging technology to enhance patient safety and support caregivers. The BedSense App, a sensor plate discreetly placed under nursing home mattresses, provides real-time insights to caregivers in memory care communities. This enables proactive fall prevention by issuing personalized alerts and detecting potential bed exits up to 70 seconds in advance.
Dr. Henk Volberda, Jury Chairman and Professor of Strategy & Innovation at the UvA, commended Momo Medical for its innovative solutions, emphasizing the company’s success in reducing pressure on healthcare workers and improving the quality of life for residents. The BedSense App currently serves nursing staff in the Netherlands, Belgium, the US, and Germany, showcasing Momo Medical’s global impact in healthcare technology.
