SLAM Orthopedic starts its first clinical trial

Published
The ADEPTH device, a pivotal innovation for Slam Orthopedic, successfully treated the first patient in the ADEPTH Pilot clinical trial at Erasmus MC.

The ADEPTH device developed by SLAM Orthopedic has been used by the Erasmus MC to treat the first patients in the ADEPTH Pilot clinical trial. The image below shows the ADEPTH device, attached to the drill machine that was used to treat a patient with a proximal humerus (upper arm) fracture.

Dr. Timo Haak, one of the first trauma surgeons to use ADEPTH, commented:

“Determining implant length with the manual gauge is unreliable, and ideally with this you don’t have to use it anymore when placing screws. This will save OR-time and reduce wasted implants.”

The first clinical use is a major achievement for the startup. The team is incredibly grateful for all the support they received from the department of trauma surgery at the Erasmus MC to make this happen.
